The Herbarium of the University of the Balearic Islands is a collection of botanical material collected since 1969 and kept at that University. The material comes mainly from the Balearic Islands, although they also contain material from other points in the Mediterranean basin.
Overall information
Goals
The main objectives of the collection are the conservation of material from the Balearic flora. Not only to contain records of this flora, but to preserve useful material for the study of taxa at different geographical scales (Balearic, Mediterranean or global). The information on the material in the collection is intended to be made available to anyone interested.
Strengths
The strong point of this collection is the conservation of representative material of the Balearic flora, containing a certain amount of material from endemic taxa of such flora.
